Arsenic and Lung Cancer

In a startling study featured in this week’s Journal of American Medical Association, rats fed the equivalent of “acceptable amounts” of arsenic found in drinking or well water increased the rates of lung cancer by over 50%.

Since rats have similar metabolism as humans, the data suggests that even small amounts of exposure to arsenic can greatly increase our risk for developing lung cancer.

Even more shocking, the levels of arsenic exposure are considered acceptable by government agencies.

It is imperative to test for and, if elevated, remove arsenic and other heavy metals from our bodies promptly.

In addition, chronic, lower level exposure of arsenic increases our risk of diabetes and heart disease, according to well-designed studies detailed in JAMA.
