Along with protein, fat helps make you feel full, and along with that, because fat carries those oh so wonderful flavors that make you feel good to be alive, it makes food more satisfying.
In other words: if the food wasn’t satisfying, you may very well eat more, thus packing in more calories. It takes twice as many calories from food that has refined carbohydrates than from fats to provide the same level of fullness.
White bread is a good example of a food item that has refined carbs, along with having very few nutrients. Although fat has more calories per gram than protein or carbohydrates, it’s what fat does when it enters your body that is important.
If you’re young and active, you may be able to eat lots of fat and carbs and still stay slim, but as you grow older, your metabolism and activity level will slow down. If you keep up your high-fat and high-carb eating habits, you’re likely to pile on the pounds. And, if you’re already overweight and eating lots of carbs, it’s very difficult to tap into your excess body fat as an energy source.
Cutting down on carbs (and eating the right kind of carbs) releases you from this fat-holding roller coaster. Controlling your carb intake lets your body recover its capacity to burn fat, so your fat intake can be relatively high without any adverse effect on your weight or health.
As long as you are controlling your carbs, the calories from fat are used directly for energy and are unlikely to be stored.
Help keep you full for longer so that you can keep your appetite under control.
They also ensure adequate calorie intake so that your metabolism doesn’t slow down because it thinks it’s starving. The tag team of protein and fat helps you stay satisfied and keep your body in fat-burning mode.
Keep in mind, though, that not every type of fat is beneficial. Avoid any food with trans fats (found in many packaged foods like cookies, crackers, baked goods and snack foods, plus anything deep-fried.
Check the list of ingredients, and give a big fat “NO!” to anything with shortening, hydrogenated vegetable oil or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil in it.
If you would like to discover more on how people just like you were able to lose the weight much easier, and without having to exercise as much, and what Suzanne Somers has been talking about, you have got to read Dr. Salerno’s eye-opening The Silver Cloud Diet.
In the Battle of the Bulge, it could very well be the toxins and pesticides in our foods that are the ultimate culprits.
Throughout the years, year after year after year, toxins, pesticides, and, unnecessary additives you couldn’t pronounce if your life depended on it, may have accumulated in the tissues and organs in your body.
Think about it – how can your body take care of itself properly if it’s being continuously knocked on its butt by the clenched fists of accumulated toxins, pesticides and added chemicals in the very foods that are supposed to be keeping you going???
Now, for some unexplainable reason, some people can handle it. They can live for years on end without any problems, and they can still lose that ugly fat in a more efficient manner. Don’t you hate people like that! But, the question of today is…
…can YOUR body handle these poisons so it can properly take care of itself, so you can lose the fat more efficiently and faster???
It could very well be years down the road before any of us really knows the true outcome of the possible harmful effects. And by that time, in many cases, it could very well be too late.
This is one of the main reasons why you should have regular checkups.
This is one of the reasons why you should carefully watch what you eat – especially if your body can’t lose the weight – like it should be able to.
We take supplements to give us more energy. We take supplements to help fight stress. We take supplements so we can better concentrate…but how many of us take supplements to help us with weight management?
But it takes more than the regular ol’ One A Day. To do the heavy (excuse the pun) jobs, the body needs stronger, higher-quality supplements.
Remember – the healthier your body is, the easier weight management will be, in addition to our overall health.
While some, individuals seek out the most expensive vitamins on the market, the Salerno Center does all the guessing work for you at the same time paying close attention to labeling, dosing, and purity.
But you are actually not spending that much more, because you are eating less.
Besides, cheap food is really expensive when it’s bad for you. Just ask those who now have diabetes, cancer, dementia, heart attacks, strokes…
For those of you on a budget, who says you have to eat healthier (organic) foods all the time anyway?
It would be nice, but if you cannot afford to do this, do the next best thing: supplement your diet with the occasional healthier meal of organic foods.
Just like when you take your vitamin and mineral supplements, you can – supplement – your daily diet with healthier items that can combat what you can only afford to eat right now.
You see, it’s that simple, healthy diet choices and a proper treatment protocol can give you the extra edge you need in your weight loss efforts.
